More than 9 million spectators have experienced DRUM TAO across the world. Join them in celebration of their 30th anniversary tour at the Sandler Center this January. The Langley Federal Credit Union presents DRUM TAO 30th Anniversary THE TAO 夢幻響 on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 7 PM. Tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, November 1 at 10 AM and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by visiting the Sandler Center box office located at 201 Market Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Tickets are priced $30, $37, $47, and $57 plus applicable fees. Established in 1993 with a dream of creating the best show in the world using Taiko (Japanese) drums – an instrument with a very rare and unique variety of sound expressions – DRUM TAO set their base at Oita, Japan and began creating their own music, stage set-ups, and costumes. “Extraordinarily talented percussion artists, and they’re seductive, alluring performers.” - Chicago Tribune A feast for the eyes and ears, Drum Tao's mesmerizing productions combine thunderous traditional taiko drumming with dazzling staging, theatrical costumes, and dramatic lighting effects. The international troupe of 40 performers has seemingly done it all, having collaborated with the Bolshoi Ballet, staged sold-out productions off-Broadway, appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and at the Olympics, and even recorded for Universal Music. Flute, marimba, and harp are added to the drum ensemble for dramatic effects, and high-octane choreography contributes fresh new energy to this centuries-old Japanese art form. Currently, DRUM TAO performs 700 shows yearly as three teams: Team A, Team K, and Team S.
