NEW KENT, Va. – “One day during my prayer time, I felt God whisper to my heart about doing a women's Bible study called ‘Come Up.’ It seemed too daunting of a task, so I felt Him asking me if I could write a children's book. I thought sure, that seemed much less intimidating. So He started to lay out the premise of the book and as I felt led, I would write down what He gave me,” Michelle Hancock states.

“Come to the Well” (published by WestBow Press) is about Genevieve, a grandmother who tells her life story to Marie, her granddaughter to help her see that her actions are not acceptable and to introduce her to the love of Jesus. She goes through her life story and at the end, it is an open invitation for everyone to know the love of Jesus as their personal Savior for themselves.

“I believe this book will appeal to readers because it draws you into Genevieve's life as she goes through many difficulties that people experience every day, especially this year. She has to deal with the loss of her parents at a young age, moving to a strange new place, dealing with loneliness and frustration of making new friends, friends moving away, and having Jesus show her that He is there for her through them all,” Hancock says.

When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, Hancock answers, “I am hoping that this book will bring encouragement and hope that if you have Jesus in your heart, you can get through anything, no matter how hard it may be. I am hoping for adults who read it will fill in any Jesus-shaped holes that they may have in their hearts and that He can bring healing to them and ultimately freedom from bondage from any past hurts.”
