Local artist Jean Peacock’s latest exhibition, “The Street Where I Live” opens in Norfolk Arts’ Offsite Gallery at MacArthur Center with a reception on February 4, 5-7pm. Save the date: February 26, 12-2pm, for “Conversation with the Artist”. The events and gallery are free and open to the public.

Through a series of oil paintings created during the pandemic lockdown, Jean Peacock expresses the joy and love of places lived, and people and things most cherished. With her four-legged companions faithfully by her side, now, more than ever, she discovered contentment in areas of home often taken for granted. A seat at the piano and books on the nightstand were viewed with delight. The backyard soon became her retreat. The Street Where I Live, is a lively portrayal of the beauty that’s all around us, if we just slow down and look.

Peacock received art instruction at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere, Paris, France; Hollins University, Roanoke, VA; The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Tidewater Community College; Virginia Commonwealth University; Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, Washington, D.C. and, The Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. On View Through:
