In June, two besties-- Ann Falcone Shalaski & Serena Fusek, held court at Cathie Abell-Nelson 's Iris Art Gallery and studio, reading selections from their newest poetry collections, trusted to the capable hands of Jay Scott Teech of Wider Perspectives Publishing. Serena's newest book in her expanding published collections, Heartwood Dreams of Blossoms, also features cover art done by the talented artist & gallery owner, Cathie.

Ann's newest book, Lost and Found, was written after what so many believe to be a dream and life killer, a stroke. Instead of allowing that experience to negatively impact her career as a 4-time author, Ann collected her pen and transformed her recovery process into a well-crafted poetic journey of healing and encouragement for anyone experiencing sudden change and a turning point of perspective and possibilities in the face of fear and unknowns. They don't call her The Dragon Lady for nothing!

Both women delivered stunning presentations of thoughts, whims, and wisdom of their own, as well as a few treasured favorite poems penned by others. Looking on was a captive audience immersed in art, seated peppered among sketches, paintings, and sculptures, including award winning novelist and poet, Bill Glose. The afternoon was a beautiful mix of friendship, laughter, poetry, fellowship, snacks, and of course-- book signings and sales!

Both ladies are also currently working on new books, with anticipated completion in 2026! Keep your eyes open; their pens and minds are blazing!

The next poetry afternoon at Iris Art Studio is August 16th, from 1-3pm. This month's feature is ...me, C.j. X. Pression! New works and reader's favorites, including some from the newest anthology carrying my poetry, We Were Supposed To Be Quiet?- edited by Synnika Lofton, are in my plan for that reading!

I hope to see you there then!

For now, give both these beautiful, talented ladies some snaps, claps, likes, loves, and shares of their pics and videos. Poetry and poets age like fine wine-more impactful with every year that passes!

Thank you, Ann, Serena, and Cathie for a fantastic afternoon!
