Richmond, VA – For the first time in history, Richmond Ballet, The State Ballet of Virginia, is offering

communities across Virginia the ability to watch The Nutcracker from the comfort of their homes. A

previously recorded performance from December 2019, with the Richmond Symphony playing

Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, will be available to stream December 11th- December 26th. A variety

of virtual packages and exclusive in-person experiences are also available, offering additional ways to

bring the magic of The Nutcracker home.

Choreographed by Artistic Director Stoner Winslett, the Richmond Ballet holiday classic has been

heralded as “one of the country’s most perfect [Nutcracker productions]” by The New York Times. “This

will be the first time since the premiere of my original production of The Nutcracker in 1980 that

Richmond Ballet will not perform our beloved classic,” said Winslett. “Seeing the joy that The

Nutcracker brings to our audiences makes up so many of my precious memories, and I am

extraordinarily grateful to all of the families who have made our production a part of their holiday

tradition each year. Until we can once again gather in person around the Silberhaus’ enchanted

Christmas tree, our entire Richmond Ballet team has curated some incredible experiences designed to

enhance your virtual Nutcracker experience.”
