Leaders of the $200 million project to reimagine Pembroke Mall – owner Pembroke Square Associates LLC along with their hotel partner, Landmark Hotel Group – today announced a new-to-market hotel concept set to open in Virginia Beach in 2025. The 14-story Tempo/Homewood Suites by Hilton dual-brand hotel will include a nationally recognized restaurant, a rooftop tapas style restaurant and lounge, and a parking garage.
The hotel will provide guests with the best experiences that Tempo and Homewood Suites have to offer all in one space. Tempo by Hilton is pioneering a new hospitality category, offering unique accommodations like Wellness Rooms, which include personal workout equipment, and Power Down Suites, boasting amenities designed to help with a restful night’s sleep, to help guests relax and recharge through the rhythm of life. Homewood Suites by Hilton is known for their intuitive, apartment-style living with distinct spaces designed to flex to the needs of a longer stay.
“Pembroke Square Associates is honored to partner with Landmark Hotel Group, an industry-leading hospitality company based in Virginia, on a new, approachable lifestyle hotel brand, never before offered in greater Virginia Beach, that is dedicated to exceeding the expectations of its guests,” said Ramsay Smith, president of Pembroke Realty Group and asset manager of Pembroke Mall. “Tempo/Homewood Suites by Hilton will make the perfect addition to our vibrant destination and will present great opportunity for our community’s bustling corporate and entertainment district.”
Tempo/Homewood Suites by Hilton will be located at the former SunTrust Bank on Virginia Beach Boulevard, within walking distance to affordable and high-quality shopping, dining and entertainment. The nationally recognized hotel will generate dozens of jobs for the community and attract business and vacation travelers from across the country.
The hotel will feature thoughtfully designed accommodations to help guests recharge, including an open lobby concept with dedicated spaces to relax, work and dine, as well as premium culinary options, according to Akhil Jain, president of Landmark Hotel Group. He said the hotel will include a state-of-the-art fitness center, a spacious outdoor patio, a restaurant and lounge, and flexible indoor and outdoor meeting spaces.
“Not only does this project represent the first dual-branded hotel in Hampton Roads, but it also marks one of the first Tempo by Hilton hotels to open in the world,” said Jain. “We are confident this hotel will become a destination for travelers seeking stylish, upscale and comfortable accommodations when visiting the region.”
Pembroke Square Associates and Pembroke Realty Group will begin on-site demolition in winter 2022, with the hotel set to open in spring 2025. ODA Architecture is the project’s architect and Kimley-Horn will provide the civil engineering services.
